Cabo 2011 (part 1)

Well Friggin' hurricane Rina came in a busted out mojo roll! Raven and I landed in Dallas to catch our connecting flight only to check our E-mail and find out Desire was closing due to the impending weather. Damn! We hit the hotel and then the restaurant bar to make other plans.....

It was actually Chieftain who found our ultimate back-up plan. He found it on Travelocity - Adult only (not the adult only we were all planning on - but beggars and all....) all inclusive and no inclement weather! We were all in!

Pueblo Bonito Pacifica - If you wanna get off the map and relax - this place was it. Very chill. It was part of a group or "Pueblo Bonito" Resorts - all different and you had access to each with shuttles and the inclusive pass worked in each. We highly recommend it and will be going back alone and as a family to the sister resorts.

We had a great room over looking the entire resort and the Sea of Cortez! We had a good time with the other couples, but the dynamic just wasn't there - Raven and I could "rise" to the Life Style vibe. We had some fun but not what we were hoping for - chalk it up to the "only child" syndrome, but it just didn't happen.

The resort did have a very secluded beach though......

Every few Fridays, Raven and arrange our schedule so we can have a Date Day together while the kids are at school. We packed up the beach cruisers and headed over to Mission Beach. Its an inlet off the Pacific surrounded by condos, rentals, million dollar houses, beaches and parks. The smoother waters allow for Paddle Boarding (where you stand on this huge surf board and paddle around) which actually looks like fun. We biked a bit of the 19 mile bike loop path and turned off for a quick ride to PB (Pacific Beach).

In San Diego, there are dozens of beach towns that stretch all the way up to Orange County and each one has its own "vibe". PB has a great vibe - its a 25-35 year old crowd, single and having fun. Its seems to be the beach town you move to right after undergrad and hangout in for a few years, hooking up with each other. We stopped off at Pacific Beach Ale House - its a small microbrewery, a block off the coast with a roof top patio and phenomenal view. The Promiscuous IPA (IPAs are my favorite) was out! Go figure - We each had a Racer 5 IPA instead.

Raven heard about a new shoe shop, so we had to stop in before biking back to Mission Beach. I don't mind following her around while she shops for either shoes or lingerie. After Raven graduated, I followed her to Maryland for her first "real" job. There I finished up my college career and we started a business. We had a couple cute babies and settled in to suburbia. After a huge life experience we decided to pull up roots and move our family and life to San Diego.

After 16 years we still feel like were discovering each other and our selves. I am so blessed that we are on this journey together. Happy Anniversary baby.

Looking Forward

Raven and I have two trips were looking forward two in the near future. While we have a scheduled "date" night, its even nicer t get away for few nights.

Ink-N-Iron in June, in Long Beach California. Its a Tattoo Convention meets Car Show meets Rockabilly Music Venue meets Pin-up Contest SHOW.

I'm really looking forward to getting away and seeing how how this mix of attractions fits and flows. We have a hotel the night before and are definitely looking for some flirting and hot sex!

We also have Desire Resort back on the calender this year - in October - the week before Halloween. This will be our second trip, last year was a blast! Were hoping that having an idea what were walking into will work to our advantage and are trying to get to know some of the couples going via LifeStyle Lounge.

Our 16th Anniversary is coming up next month. What do you get for the 16th? Last year was a milestone, at 15 years, so I took the family to Hawaii. We just came off a great trip, so another big trip isn't in the cards. Well - while I'm think about what is an appropriate gift to give to express my love to my wife, Raven beats me a proverbial punch and give me an early gift.

What you see here is a book she had made about the last year of the blog. It is simply titled - My Hot Raven. We have a ton of Scrap Book and newer Printed Books. This book was made by SharedBook. She tells me it was a snap. She just had them pull all the data and pics from the blog and they printed it, all 70 pages! She had the option to go online and Edit and Delete as she saw fit prior, but opted to let it stand as it was - flaws and all!

Her thought was, "Hey were only getting older and your spending all this time chronicling this side of out lives we should have a written copy - for prosperity"? I can just see it now - The kids are moving us into the retirement community and moving all our crap into storage or estate sale or whatever - and this book falls out!!! HA! Minds - would -be -blown!

ManScaping!

Being in the LifeStyle in one form or another for the last 8 years I've leaned a thing or two. One of "those" thongs would be the importance of ManScaping. It has become such a part of my daily routine that I don't even really think about it anymore.

That is until we went on our European Trip and I neglected to bring my trimmer. I did consider it but though, "What the hell, how bad can it get in three weeks"? Ha - Pretty bad! I started to feel like Sasquatch by the 10th day - And I'm not even that hairy!! But, being so trim for so long had left me a bit unprepared for the return of THE HAIR. I actually took a picture before I trimmed when we got home but its so embarrassing I can't stand to share!

Now - Many guys like to shave smooth, I've tried that but just hate the damn upkeep, stubble and razor burn! I choose to trim very short - Just short enough, that it doesn't poke or scruff when skin is against skin. I also don't trim my leg or arm hair - I just think it looks a bit silly. I keep my "scaping" to the chest and private areas only, then blend into the normal leg hair.

Do you think ManScaping in you late 30's is a sign of being in the LifeStyle? I know the guys in college and early 20s do it, but at my age I only see it in the "circle". Thoughts?

To Recap back in February we meet up with Chieftain in Austin for a "play" weekend. I thought for sure they were gone!

HNT - Damn Castle - Where's the Shower!

The Castle we stayed in, in Germany was great (E-mail me if your headed over and want the name). Huge rooms, good food, great staff, creepy areas to checkout, large grounds to roam. But - No Shower! The kids and Raven Loved it - nice big bath! I've never been a bath person - its hard for me to sit still that long - let alone wash my body and hair!

Oh and no locks on the bathroom door!

Its been a crazy 2 weeks getting back into the swing of things at work. Lost in Bavaria...

Lost in Bavaria - We've been traveling across Germany the last few days. I must say - I love the Autobaun! Traveling at 120MPH does get you where you need to be a might bit faster than 65!!

As luck would have it, we reserved for an Audi Station Wagon (family and all...) but when we arrived one was not available so we got what was left.....

Score - BMW, 3 Series, Hard-Top convertible - 6-speed manual no less!! Ha! We crammed our gear in the boot (that's English talk for trunk) and headed out!!

Even at 120, some cars would just blow past us like we where on a bicicyle!

We finally scored a suite again in Munich, so once the kids were fast asleep we broke out the camaera for some pics....

Just a few highlights as we got right down to business, both of us being very over due for some fun (with a capital "F").

I was hoping to get "up" for Half Nakkid Thursday, but the avaliblity of reliable WiFi is killing our connections - Althought that is a pro and a con! We are loving Dublin! Finally got upgraded to a suite! Its been a great trip so far but sharing a room with your two children can put a cold towel on the romance! We already traveled through London, Bath, Bristol (England); Cork, Galway Bay and now Dublin (Ireland). Tonight we fly to Berlin to continue our adventure!

No trip to Dublin would be complete without a trip to the Guinness Brewery Tour - It was amazing what a heritage Guinness has in Dublin! What a story!

We had a great day in Dublin yesterday, Raven even got a cat call from some Irish Blokes! I think she liked it a bit ;) Last night in our room we actually and time to relax in separate rooms - the kids in the bedroom and us in the sitting room. I think we both needed the few hours of separation - the kids and adults!

Now that I have the pictures from the second camera I can tell the rest of the story. You can do a lot with a small portable camera - more so than you can with my SLR.

After we got back from SoCo (South Congress) we tried to hit the Hot Tub with no luck - or maybe tons of luck. We headed back to out room and got comfortable. What a crazy trip to Vegas - we had so many plans and little "free" time to execute them. There's this great Marriott down in Old Town San Diego that has a suite with an inside courtyard. We've stayed there a few times - it has a great whirlpool tub, huge sitting area and is within walking distance to Old Town (historic Mexican/American area with great shopping, history and restaurants). This is the only suite they have like this and its under $200 a night.

Austin - Continued.

The rest of the first night in Austin was finished in true Austin flavor Once Raven and I got cleaned up we all hit 6th Street. Turns out if you hit 6th Street after midnight most of the live music is turned over to the DJs. I have some great shots - on my camera that I left in Chieftain's room!! So those'll have to wait.

It was a way late night. WAY! Raven and I woke late on Saturday, pressing noon. Chieftain had been up and texting us for a few hours - we polity ignored the phones.

Once cleaned up, again, we all hit a cab and went over to SOCO, (aka - South Congress). A must visit if you hit Austin. We had a late lunch at a Mexican restaurant and shook off our hang overs with a couple margaritas. Shopping in SOCO is very rockabilly, trendy, I guess. Chieftain and I didn't mind following Raven around for a few hours.

One of our last stops before heading back to the hotel to get ready for the night was a "Toy Store". We had a blast looking around and seeing the wears. Raven hit upon a something called We-Vibe. Once Raven was ready we headed down to the hotel bar. It was cool, pretty busy - sports bar type feel. We ordered a round, the 5th of the night if you count two at the Irish bar and two in the room getting ready, what the hell - we were on a play vacation. Hi - It's Raven It has been a very long time since I actually put my two cents into this blog. Austin - Friday

Austin was an unequivocal blast! We flew in on Friday and blew out on Sunday and, MAN, did we cram a lot in. I'm gonna break this down over a few posts.

Friday:

We arrived to 35 degrees and a dusting of snow. Now I know a lot of you might scoff at that, but coming out of San Diego it was a bit of a shock. There were a slew of people SUPERBOWL bound and as we left San Diego the Houston Airport was still shut down. The pilot joked that the Houston DE-ICE procedure was very Hi-Tech - Wait for the Sun to do its job.

After a quick taxi we arrived at out hotel for the weekend....

Not a Bad place to play - Nice locations between the younger, 6th Street and the hipper Warehouse District.

After checking in and dropping our bags we headed left out the entrance and crossed Congress Street. Austin is a great city with so much more to offer.

We found a great Irish pub for a late lunch. We walked into a Pay-Preview Rugby Match and the place was hopping. What a crazy sport, I had no idea.

After lunch we did a bit of shopping. I actually got chided for snapping this pick. "No pictures allowed of the art!" I happily showed the lady my camera screen and asked if, "my wife's butt was okay"? She didn't bother us again. HA!

Raven wanted to get back to the hotel and clean up before Chieftain got in. I had no complaints, but we had to stop at the liquor store first. Texas is bit of a pain, in that you have to go to a Package Store.

Worth the walk though.......

We are off to Austin next week. Austin is the self proclaimed Live Musci Capital of the World. Raven and I visited last year and we have no reason to disagree. Its a must visit city if you love music! The trip came up because Chieftain is there on business and threw out an invite to come play. Raven has been so hot to groove in some 2 on 1 play. On Sunday the family went to a new restaurant out here call North County Tavern and Bowl. Its a second, the first being in downtown San Diego. The food was good, they had over 40 HD tvs playing the games and there was cool bowling to boot. (F-ing Stealers)

End of a Season - 2010

Well the season of 2010 if finished, finally. I'm 9 pounds over weight, in a bad way. As a man who constantly fights to keep "good" weight on, this time of the year kills me. I'm down in the weight I want and up on the weight I don't want! Grrrrrr. Now is the time to pick up the good fight again and get back to work.

It was a good Holiday Season - Raven and I started the week of Thanksgiving, flying to Baltimore to spend time with good friends and catch a Raven's game. Then on to Christmas with multiple family, friends and work related get together's. Next, blast to New Years, then on to our annual Ski week in Mammoth, California. I think we both stopped looking back after the Raven's game and just came to the realization that we should probe "check back-in" to real life, last week.

Ahh - the warmth of good friends during a blessed Thanksgiving weekend. I am so thankful for all my friends, Vanilla and not ;)

The Holiday Parties, lets celebrate friendship and work on straightening that those bonds. The beers help loosen our, "ground in", inhibitions. Damn, those inhibitions. They weaken both our abilities and reaches in life.

What? Its a Christmas celebration right!?!? That's way too much fucking Cinnamon though! Who closed the damn spice shaker last?!?!!

New Years! 2010 was a great rebirth year for Raven and myself. Rout with challenges and triumphs. Glad it was over and will never forget it.

Happy New Year Everyone! 2010 was a great year for Raven and I for so many reasons. I have a lot to share but thought I put out this one shot from getting ready last night first.

This was the first year in about 5 where Raven and I had the kids. Usually my in-laws take them for the night, but this year they actually had plans! Go figure. We went to a Family Friendly Event at a Resort outside of San Diego. We smartly rented two room, that adjoined so when the night was done we could quietly close the door and play ourselves.

We did our fair share of new year planning and goal setting for 2011 - for ourselves, as a couple and as a family. It was an all around great night.

Thanksgiving 2010 was a great one. Since moving to San Diego we've had a hard time replacing our family traditions on Thanksgiving. This year I had a buddy who invited Raven and I to a Raven's Game the day after Thanksgiving. Soooo a new tradition! We spent Thanksgiving with friends. Friends we hadn't seen in years, but if felt like no time was lost at all.

The Raven's game was phenomenal! We arrived early for tailgating. Our friends lead us threw a sea of revilers until we found "their" crew. Now this wasn't your ordinary tailgaters! A few weeks back Raven and I wen to a private photographer for some naughty pictures, Bad Kitty, here in San Diego. I wrote on it a few posts ago and we had a blast! Friday Date Day - Bad Kitty Photography

Every once and a while when Raven and I aren't traveling or working on a Friday we like to send a Date Day together. We've done Brewery tours (makes for a long ass Friday night) to hiking down to a nudist beach (Black Beach). Mr. Smith is away for training for a few days in the middle of the week and I find myself with extra time on my hands. ... what a nice time to say a few things on the blog. I know that I don't write much because mostly, I think that you guys don't really care what I have to say and I am not as eloquent as my husband. I do however read every post that he puts out and I do enjoy the feedback we have been getting.

The Rest of the Vegas Story - As you may already know Raven and I frequent Vegas often. By count, 5 times this year alone. Its a quick flight from San Diego, we like the disconnect from daily life and the re-connect we so easily get, while there.

This was a work related conference so we knew many people there, which is both a good and a bad thing. Many of you share the dichotomy of having good "vanilla" friends who you enjoy time with, but let face it they never "really" know you. Furthermore for our "non-vanilla" friends - sometimes its just too much "play" and not enough balance with "daily" life.

I digress - we did the best we could to balance the line between "us" and "them" but I'm sure we raised a few eyebrows - oh well let them wonder!

What Vegas trip wouldn't be complete with a trip to a tattoo shop. Our first night we kept it lite, as we had lecture early the next day. King Ink is an upscale new shop in the Mirage Hotel. Its half tattoo shop and half club. If your ever make it to that side of the strip its a good stop.

The next day after lecture we headed to the pool. We were staying at Caesars which recently did a full re-vamp of the pools. Its very nice, spread out over quite a large area with lots various sized cabanas.

I just got one of the "tough" cameras, but true too form the battery was dead and I forgot the charger! Aghhhh! So no pool shots. A new friend of ours rented 2 cabanas, gotta love a friend with cash, and we spent the afternoon hanging with friends drinking Vodkas and Redbulls. I love Vodka and Redbull!

After the pool Raven headed down to get her Nails done and I rested and tried to sober up a bit for that nights White Party at Pure.

Not sure why all these shots of Raven are from the perspective of the floor? Oh wait! I was drunk!! I did rally for the party - never fear. We did not bring the big camera so from here on out it gets a bit blurry.

Last Vegas Night

The last day while I went to finish up some tattoo work Raven hit the SPA. The Bath House located within the The Hotel which is within the Mandalay Bay.

Raven had a much better time than me though. She had quite the massage - I'll let her give the details. Lets just say I have a new fantasy visual. Vegas Weekend Continued

So....... to continue on our last Vegas weekend trip.

After out afternoon at the pool we headed up tp the room at the the HOTEL, it's in the Mandalay Bay. Quite nice actually, easy entrance, suite with a separate sitting area and bedroom. We used to not care how nice the room was, now we so enjoy getting ready together with a drink and some nice music that we really like a bigger and nicer room.

We take our time. We actually plan on getting back to the room at least an hour, or better - two, before we have to leave for our evening agenda.

I really like Raven in this window! This sot reminds me or a stripper pole. I wish the view outside the window was as nice as the one on the inside. Its funny, we used to get ready as fast as possible to get back out to what ever the next event was, but after 15 years together we are actually lingering in our company in preparation for the night ahead - i love it!

I'm still getting the hang of this new camera - it's tough, but I can do it!

I was trying to freeze the water as it cascaded off Raven's body - to no avail. Damn f - stop and shutter speed!!

This is the first corset Raven has worn out. She was way hot and was getting looks left and right. We started to count them as we walked but realized it was futile after a few minutes.

I wish I had picks from the Ice Bar we went to - it;s called Minus 5. The entire bar is made of ice - from the seats to the glasses. Sure it was a bit cheesy, but what the hell it was Vegas. We were in Vegas last weekend and man, was it hot! We arrived Thursday afternoon and hit the Mandalay Bay Pool. At 104 degrees coming from a mild 60 in San Diego it was a bit of a shock on the system!

We braved it with some liquid help and multiple trips to the pools.
